Wednesday was our last day of classes and activities at the Crochet Retreat at Cama Beach. Now that I have an internet connection, here are photos from the day!
Saw these out my window in the morning. Not sure what they are, but Fearless Leader’s son tells me these beauties are deadly.
Amy (GreenWoman) thinks she’s funny. HAha!
So I’m taking photos of everyone’s classes today. Here wee see the beginning of a yarn dying project.
Oh look! Yarn pie!
Neener, neener, we had blueberry muffins for breakfast!
And yummy biscuits!
These were popular.
Amy is getting her dying projected started.
I’m taking photos of all the classes this morning. We start with Fearless Leader’s yarn dying class.
Monica (CraftWich) getting her color started.
Oh look – crocheted seaweed next to the Malibrigio!
Laurie’s giving them the low-down on dying.
Off to the next class. Let’s visit the Shibaguyz’ finishing class.
Shannon is in the groove this morning. Trust me, you’ll learn a lot of meaty information from his classes.
“Can we all agree on that?”
“And the crochet hook was this big…”
Good Debbie is taking lots of notes.
I love how Shannon very deliberately gets his hands inthe yarn and shows everyone up close and personal.
Right in the middle where everyone can see.
On my way to another class, I see that the Center for Wooden Boats is open.
So I stop to take some photos.
Through that door is the ocean.
Oh look! Jimbo’s shawl pin class is a crowd!
The men are very focused right now.
Look at Barbara’s beautiful freeform crochet shawl!
Don (CerDeb’s hubby)
Everyone’s paying attention except Marillyn who’s looking at me! LOL! :)
Now we’re off to Karen Whooley’s class.
Karen is pointing something out to Carol.
What is Karen doing to her head?! ;)
SHould she be standing on her foot without her magic crochet hook cane?
Back down to the Fire Truck House where Deb (CerDeb) is taking a quiet moment to crochet.
Waiting on the next dye step. True crochet dedication. We don’t need no stinkin’ chairs! Give me yarn an a hook, and I can crochet anywhere.
Back to yarn dying. Look, the yarn pie is set!
Time to squeeze it out.
“Crowd around the sink y’all.” OK, none of these ladies would use the word y’all. But I would.
“There, is that still enough for you?!” Yes, yes it is. Thanks! :P
Back to Jimbo’s shawl pin carving class. Deb’s dropped by with the “challenge” hook that Jimbo assigned Don last year. What a unique piece of wood!
And look how it fits into Deb’s hand!
The Center For Wooden Boats is hosting a job training something or another. Teaching college kids about working with your hands.
We’re getting ready to go to the alpaca farm, but Jimbo and Don plan to stay behind and carve some more.
The alpaca are curious and friendly.
Especially this one.
And this one just about stuck it’s face up against my phone.
Baby alpacas are heavenly soft like a cloud. I don’t have a photo of her (someone promised to send me one) but this baby’s mother is named Panda (she’s black and white). I was petting her quite a while before I was told she normally doesn’t let anyone do that. Not even the animal masseuse they hired could get her to stay still that long. So of course after that I had to buy some of her fiber, right? Looks like a spinning wheel is in my future.
Gathering up for our last evening together. Look at the beautiful reversible Carol is working on!
Close up of Tracie’s “Crochet Or Die” tattoo. (TracieCrochets)
Yummy grilled chicken done by Park Ranger Jeff!
A variety of drinks shared amongst us.
Pot luck! And what a lucky pot it was.
We have a wonderful crochet community. Lots of new friendships made and renewed.
Deb and Don are so cute together.
Food, yarn and community. What else do we need?
Steampunk style spinning wheel made by Fearless Daughter’s boyfriend.
If we’re going to get a good picture of the back of your coats, you need to “assume the postition.”
Fearless Leader, Jorel, Carol, and Tracie
Blurry photos of Laurie and I. Good grief! What happened to my mouth!
“Dippy needs eyes!”
Dippy also needs a hat! Thanks to Jorel, he now has one. This is what happens with wine and crochet converge in the same time space continuum.
Dippy with new Australian friends.
Jacquie is adding her signature to Dippy’s collection of autographs.
Hey, everyone who signed last year should sign again!
Another late night party at Jimbo’s. Where carving is part of the late night festivities – of course!
Ask Amy (GreenWoman) what she’s wearing on her head! Seriously, with the light rain coming in, it was pretty dark outside. A lovely quiet to end the night with.
